LOL.  I’m not hiding.  I have been quite busy.  I shot a talent show this last weekend, 64 kiddos, and have been quite busy editing those and getting them ready for the parents.  It was an amazing project to work on.  And that was just the “local” competition.  The Statewide Competition is next month.

To top it all off, my showing at the hospital is next month as well. I will be hanging my work on June 1st @ OU Medical Center.  I am excited about that.

And then too I have taken on another task.  Getting my health in line.  Last Monday I joined a gym and have been working out religeously.  On Monday, Wednesday & Friday I have resistance training.  And then on Tuesday & Thursday I do swimming.  I have been going in after resistance on MWF and doing some swimming also just because it is so soothing for me.  I have probably mentioned somewhere in my blog before, but I was probably a mermaid in my past life, or should have been.

The water for me is a sanctuary.  I love going deep down into the pool where I cannot hear anything and just floating.  Hmmm… soothing just thinking about it.  Anyway, I lost 4 lbs my first week so that is definately a great thing.

More pics to come soon.  Off to bed for now.  Sweet dreams!!!

roastturkey

Happy turkey day, everyone.  I hope you had a great day no matter how you chose to celebrate it.  For us, we took it easy today.  The family got up and moving around 10am and hubby made cinnamon rolls for breakfast/lunch.  Then around 12 we started the turkey going.  Along with a fabulous menu of:

stuffing from scratch (okay so I “scratched” the box before I made the stuffing ~ does that count?:)

peas

greenbeans (because Emily hates peas)

olives (because I remember olives every TD at home)

dinner rolls

cranberries

gravy

and to top it all off, I made 2 pies.  One lemon meringue and one pecan.  My mixer died in the middle of mixing the meringue so I will have to share the picture of hubby’s creation to fixing the problem as soon as I can upload the pictures.  (my card reader is being a brat right now).

Then we decided to go off to the dollar movies.  Yes, who can resist a room full of sticky seats and a bunch of teenagers being rowdy.  Actually it was because we wanted to see “Dark Knight” and had missed it and had to see it in the theatre.  And it was oh so worth it.  (RIP Heath Ledger)

Then home to chill and now off to bed.  That turkey kicked my butt!!! Plus I have to get to bed because in 30 minutes, I will be turning 38 years old and I am afraid that if I am not asleep by then, my crystal carriage might disappear.  :-)

G’nite all!!!

pom2

I have always had a thing for pomegranates.  As a little girl I remember opening my first one and how the seeds reminded me of rubies.  Then I became fascinated with the texture, the way the seeds all clumped together, the way the skin inside encompassed the clumps of seeds…  It is a beautiful fruit.  So the other day while out walking, I discovered a pomegranate tree.  At first I did not pay any attention and then I noticed one of the poms was cracked open.  I am thinking maybe the birds got hold of it and decided to munch.  I am not sure.  However, I decided to go ahead and grab one and finally got the chance to shoot it using the natural light in our dining room window. Hope you like… They will be sold as 4×4 prints all the way up to 20×20 prints AND they will also be available as mounted in 8×8, 10×10, and 20×20.  Let me know if you are interested in any of them.

cameraSo hubby met a new friend and he was once a photographer for the military blah blah blah…  Anyway I guess the guy has quite a little camera collection and was offering me one of his cameras (film) for $1200.  I was trying very hard not to laugh. If I was going to invest $1200 into a camera it would certainly not be film.  Anyway, I politely turned him down telling him that I was happy with my Minolta and my my Brownie and right now my thing that I am wanting is a 50mm lens.  So a couple of days ago the guy shows up to go play in the garage with hubby and then presents me with a Mamiya 1000DTL that has a 55mm f/1.8.  I am looking forward to playing with it, maybe tomorrow.  I want to see if there are any light leaks in it plus I want to shoot some B&W with it so I can process it at school before graduation at the end of the month.  Can’t wait to see what it can do.  :-)

I have just finished the first 2 sets of 411 cards. This designs was pulled from the set I originally did for my daughter, hence the “punk” feel.  :-) If you are looking for something a little more cutesy, don’t worry, there will be more to come.  You can find these two batches on sale right now on my Etsy

WOW!!!  I am sooo very excited by the turnout tonight at the exhibit.  My family of course made an appearance and were ever so helpful in getting things set up (especially when the art would not stay on the wall ~ ARGH!!!).

Thank you to all of the fabulous people that showed up and thank you for Maureen for at least trying.  Sorry you ended up in Piedmont.  LOL.  Here is a bit hug to all of you!!!
Ken, Heather,Penny,Kriea, Abi , Leigh, Larry, Monique, her hubby Chris and their little girl, Maria (Moniques friend who stopped in later), and to all of the strangers in the cafe who stopped into the cafe and checked out the art and gave me the most wonderful feedback.  You all just made my DAY!!!

If you did not get the chance to come into  Beatnix Cafe, my art will be posted down there until the 21st so you still have plenty of time to stop in and enjoy the view.

and say HAPPY FRIDAY to all.  Hope to see you sometime this weekend or
on Monday!  Email me if you need the nitty gritty details on where I
will be.  :-)
