Oh dear! Have I ever mentioned how much I despise malls? I like to shop but I hate dealing with people who have no manners, no respect and will generally run you over. And then there is how close the racks in the stores seem to be. For example, today Emily and I went into a store that is aimed at teens. Cute clothes and the employees were actually half way decent to deal with. But the clothing racks were just soooo close it made me feel a bit claustrophobic. And then… Emily and I had stopped to get a drink. We walked on a ways and then decided to go into another “aimed at stealing all of mommy’s money” store. As I walked in I looked closely for signs that said no food or drinks because I am respectful of the stores rules. I look over and see an employee giving me the stare down just as I also see the sign that says “no food or drinks”. So I walk over and put my drink down on the ground far enough out of the way (and behind a sign at the door) so that no one will knock it over. We were not even in there for 3-5 minutes when Emily asks me, “Mom, did she just take our drink?” I look 20 feet behind me at the entry way and then at the little chickadee who had watched me put it there as she walked into the back room. Why yes, my dear, I do believe that was our drink. So I tell the girl standing outside of the backroom and she goes inside and proceeds to ask the girl what she had done with it. She said from somewhere in the depths of the backroom (probably the bathroom) that she has dumped it. I am thinking to myself she is probably drinking it. LOL
Now I know this probably sounds kind of petty, that I am that worried about a drink. But (1) I don’t go to the mall very often because I don’t like large crowds, and (2) I don’t get my Orange Julius very often and when I do, I darn well want to be able to enjoy it!!! And (3) Why the heck did she take the stupid thing if she saw me put it down and knew that I was still only feet away from it?
The nice lady who asked where the drink was told me she was going to talk to the manager as we were walking out of the store. We continued our browsing around and as we came back by this store towards our exit, there is little miss chickadee with a look on her face like “nanna nanna boo boo”. I wanted to kick her little but from here to China… or at least ask if she had enjoyed my strawberry julius. AARRGGHH!!! I think I will continue to boycott the mall again or at least Crossroads Mall and that store.
